With over 40 years of experience in creative texiles and practising as an artist and teacher, Ewa thrives on using her skills to help others achieve their potential. Ewa excels at instilling confidence in her students, so that they are able to develop their ideas and master the technical skills involved in felting. Ewa’s over-arching experience in the principles of Art and Design and flexible approach ensure that her courses include a wide range of textile disciplines. You’ll come away from one of her felting breaks with beautiful creative pieces and the skills to continue felting at home. Joomchi Felt and Other Lace Felts Sunday 27th June – Friday 2nd July 2021 Based on the ancient Korean paper art of ‘Joomchi’, techniques have been developed into an innovative method for creating fine lace-like felts. In addition, over the years your tutor, Ewa, has developed a number of different ways for creating unique lace felts that she will share with you, for a variety of projects to wear or for use in the home. Cosy Felts for Winter Sunday 24th – Friday 29th October 2021 Create magical seamless felt hats, slippers, boots and mittens to keep you warm in the cold winter months ahead. Come and join us! 2-night course FridayCheck in is from 4pm where you will receive a warm welcome from our team.Once you are unpacked and settled, we invite you to enjoy some tea or coffee and home baking in the lounge where you can relax after your journey.If you have never been on a holiday like this before, we understand how anxious you may be. That’s why, come 6pm, everyone will gather in the lounge for the Welcome Talk and Meet & Greet, giving you the chance to meet both your fellow guests and your tutor before the start of the course on Saturday. Your tutor will talk you through what to expect from the weekend, discuss what you would like to achieve during your stay, and answer any questions you may have. From there, dinner is served at 6:30pm in the downstairs dining room.. Saturday Tuition runs from 10am to 4pm. Enjoy a mid-morning and mid-afternoon tea and coffee break with homemaking so you can relax and have a natter with your fellow guests about everything you’ve been up to so far. All meals are served in the dining room. Evening tea and coffee is available in the lounge at 9pm. Sunday Rooms need to be vacated by 10am. Spend the rest of the day indulging in your art or craft and enjoying tea, coffee and home baking mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Evening tea and coffee is available in the lounge at 9pm. *Wednesday After a few days of working hard on your craft, you may like to take a break and head out for an afternoon to explore the local area. Choose from a range of trips to satisfy any cultural craving – from Deanston distillery, a boat trip on Loch Katrine or Doune Castle. However, should you wish to continue your craft your tutor will be on hand from 10am-4pm Monday to Thursday to provide tuition. Transfers from Glasgow or Edinburgh Airports are available at an additional cost. All materials and equipment for your course will be provided by your tutor. Tutor Ewa Kuniczak Your felting tutor is the vibrant Ewa Kuniczak, Co-founder of the International Feltmakers Association. Polish-born Ewa now lives and works in Scotland. She is an author, as well as a freelance lecturer and tutor in Art & Design and Creative Textiles (specialising in felting techniques). Ewa continues to produce her own work for exhibitions and high-profile fairs. She has travelled widely, studying costume, textile and felting methods, and continues to participate in international conferences, exhibitions and leading community projects. Ewa exhibits widely through the UK, USA and Europe on a regular basis, and is recipient of several awards, including Best in Show at the Royal Highland Show, and Innovation & Design.
