Choose from a selection of taught techniques and projects including a beginner’s sampler quilt, modern sampler blocks and quilt, modern and traditional delectable mountain quilts, quilting techniques by hand and machine, plus two new themes for 2022 – curved strip piecing and patchwork rugs.

Sampler Blocks and Quilts
A fun versatile way to learn a range of patchwork and quilting skills both traditional and modern. Choose from a wide and ever increasing range of designs to make useful and beautiful items from cushions, bags, runners, etc to quilts of all sizes. Additionally, there are two variations of Modern Sampler Quilts with new modern patchwork techniques to learn and an opportunity to learn and practice new modern ways of machine quilting.

Delectable Mountain Quilts
This is a lovely design with a modern feel if made with just two contrasting plain fabrics – or it is an ideal scrap buster or layer cake project for a very different look. Once the blocks are made (with Clare’s favourite ‘speedy’ method) there are many different ways they can be used, so lots to play with!

Curved Strip Piecing
New for 2022 play with curved strip piecing techniques for speedy curvy quilts! Clare will gently guide you through successful curved piecing techniques and speedy cutting techniques for larger projects.

Patchwork Rug
First in a proposed series of patchwork rugs, this design is ideal for using up all those offcuts of wadding and fabrics. Start keeping them now for a fun way to recycle and add warmth and colour to your floor!

UFOs (Unfinished Objects) or WIPs (Works In Progress)
Guests will as ever be very welcome to bring along their own projects to work on. Our patchwork and quilting holidays offer a great opportunity to finish those UFOs or WIPs – with the luxury of time, space and expert advice on hand if needed – you can finally see those projects completed! If you have a kit you’ve started and got stuck – or been unable to start at all – do bring it along and we’ll get things moving.

Check in is from 4pm where you will receive a warm welcome from our team.
Once you are unpacked and settled, we invite you to enjoy some tea or coffee and home baking in the lounge where you can relax after your journey.
If you have never been on a holiday like this before, we understand how anxious you may be. That’s why, come 6pm, everyone will gather in the lounge for the Welcome Talk and Meet & Greet, giving you the chance to meet both your fellow guests and your tutor before the start of the course on Monday. Your tutor will talk you through what to expect from the week, discuss what you would like to achieve during your stay, and answer any questions you may have.
From there, dinner is served at 6:30pm in the downstairs dining room.

Monday to Thursday
Throughout the week, tuition runs from 10am to 4pm with regular breaks for tea and coffee so you can relax and have a natter with your fellow guests about everything you’ve been up to so far.
All your meals are served in the dining room.
Evening tea and coffee is available in the lounge at 9pm.
