About The Course

Join us at Gartmore House for a 5-night sewing retreat in the heart of Scotland’s Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Scotland.

Don’t let your sewing machine gather dust, bring it on holiday to Gartmore House! Learning how to properly sew clothes is a fabulous skill everyone should try which is why we knew we had to add it to our course catalogue. This ever popular course will arm you with all the skills you need to take your sewing to the next level.

Our professional sewing tutor will give you all the tips, tricks, and wisdom you need to make beautiful garments at home.
Gill McBride, our fabulous sewing tutor, will teach you all about understanding sewing patterns, fitting your garment, proper sewing techniques and lots more besides. During your 4 days of tuition, you’ll learns how to make a toile or practice garment, how to get the fit just right for you and even how to best cut your pattern and get the most from your fabric. By the end of the holiday, you should be able to produce a simple toile, transfer your fitting adjustments back to your paper pattern and take home a wonderful final garment.

The courses suit beginners and experienced sewers alike, but the Tailoring a Jacket course is best suited to those with some sewing experience.
