Copper Wire Work

Join professional and friendly tutor Nadja Shields for a week’s worth of copper wire weaving and jewellery making. Over the course of the week, guests will have the opportunity to complete four projects. The week begins with learning all the basics before moving on to tackle more complicated projects such as tree of life pendant, a 3D bonsai tree and a sun catcher. All of the projects are beginner friendly but certainly have enough of a challenge to stretch the skills of anyone who might have a little experience. Worried you might get stuck? Don’t be! Nadja will be on hand throughout the week to offer all the support and guidance you need.

Tutor Nadja Shields

Nadja’s family has always been a very crafty lot. Some of her fondest childhood memories are of spending many blissful hours making Christmas decorations, mask sculptures and paintings with her mother and grandmother. But copper wire was not her first love! That title belongs to micro macramé which she first learned while living in Eswatini in Southern Africa for 17 years. In fact, she did not start wire weaving until late 2016!

She first began teaching classes and when she started working for JewelleryMaker as a guest designer, she had to find out more about the craft. Even from just learning the simplest weaves, a great new love was born!

Nadja is constantly on the lookout for new techniques and new ways of creating so that she can pass on the very best techniques to her students.
