Beading Weekends

Join our beginners Beadwork Weekends in association with Mrs Magooty CIC. Beadwork is the art of weaving beads (usually small seed beads) using needle and thread. There are several basic stitches that underpin beadwork techniques.

2019 courses are led by Falkirk based beadwork artist, Carole Cowie. Enjoy an introduction to the art of beadwork and off-loom bead weaving. Using small Japanese seed beads, you will explore one or more of the core beadwork stitches, mastering the technique which will open up a world of sparkly possibility.

There will be an on-site pop up shop from Mrs Magooty throughout the course, and tutorials on the different type of beads and supplies that will be available. There will also be kits including Miyuki precision seed beads and Swarovski crystal beads available, which can be purchased at £30 per person, so you can continue your beading at home! Course fee does however include all materials required for the weekend.

Tutor Carole Cowie

Our 2019 courses are led by Falkirk-based beadwork artist, Carole Cowie, in association with Mrs Magooty CIC. Carole has been designing and teaching beadwork classes for 5 years. Her passion for beadwork began when she was looking for a new hobby in 2010 and has flourished rapidly into a complete obsession!  A true magpie by nature, her designs usually incorporate something very sparkly – which are known as Swarovski crystals of all shapes and sizes – and are often inspired by the simplicity of the Art Deco era.

‘Exceptional value for money. You made us feel welcome from booking to departure. Nothing ever appeared too much trouble and that level of service is something to be exceptionally proud of. We will return next year to enjoy the house and crafting courses. With heartfelt thanks.’
