About The Course

Watercolour is the perfect medium for depicting landscapes, particularly when painting outdoors. We’ll use the studio facilities at Gartmore House for introduction exercises and as wet-weather options but weather permitting, we’ll endeavour to work outside. This may be in the grounds of Gartmore House or nearby at some of the more beautiful spots in the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park such as Loch Katrine, Loch Achray or Inchmahome in the Lake of Menteith.
We’ll explore traditional watercolour techniques and learn the basics of landscape painting. Starting with drawing and composition; introducing line and wash; developing linear and tonal perspective; interpreting water, rocks, skies and vegetation.
Sketchbooks, watercolour paper, paints and brushes supplied.
All materials will be available for participants to create their artwork. Please bring an apron, or an old shirt.
