“I needed somewhere that offered both drawing and painting classes near me and Gartmore House really came through for me.”

We are more than ready to welcome you to Gartmore House for our drawing and painting classes.

We understand that life can get in the way and stopper your creative flow. Where do all the hours in the day go? Get back to nature and let it inspire you during Gartmore House’s week-long drawing and painting classes. Surrounded by the stunning Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, you’re bound to rediscover your artistic joy. Over the course of the week, you’ll have all the time you need to get stuck in and finish a piece.

Try out these drawing and painting classes and learn in a relaxed, nurturing environment away from all of life’s usual stresses.

Suitable for all, the focus of this course is the natural world, with time spent discovering the joys of being creative outdoors in this beautiful location. You will develop skills in drawing and painting with watercolour and different mediums, use materials such as charcoal and graphite sticks, while developing a sketchbook. Taking account of the weather, you will be involved in short walks in the nearby countryside initially following the tracks, then venturing into the woods choosing viewpoints for composition, looking at tonal range and aerial perspective in both monochrome and colour. We will be using the general landscape, and also gathering interesting natural materials – feathers, bark and plants etc., – for setting up still lifes indoors.
