“I needed more time to learn the craft and coming on holiday for a tapestry weaving class was perfect for me.”
About The Course
Our tapestry weaving classes are suitable for beginners and developing weavers. Learn the basic techniques of woven tapestry, before going on to experiment with colour and textures in tapestry weave.
Over the course of four days, you will learn how to set up a small frame loom, consider the variety of materials and warp settings required for different designs, control the weaving tension, create shapes, angles, lines and texture in weave. As we begin to explore the process of woven tapestry you will learn how to mix and blend coloured yarns.
Expert tutor Fiona Hutchison has many years of teaching and artistic experience under her belt and with her guidance, this tapestry weaving class will give you the confidence you need to bring your vision to life.
As part of your tapestry weaving class you will be encouraged to develop your own ideas and designs for weaving. Learning how to keep a visual diary or sketchbook, we will consider a range of approaches to help you develop your own personal creative language.
This tapestry weaving course will cover
Warping a up a simple frame loom.
Selecting the correct warp/weft thicknesses.
Basic tapestry techniques: creating shapes, angles, lines.
Using multiple yarn bundles to blend and mix colours.
