Tutor – Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw

Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw is a French born, Glasgow based artist with 30 years’ experience in working with painted heritage. Trained in the Decorative Arts by Christie’s, she specialised in the recreation of heritage-stencilled decorative schemes and has done much work over the years on the recreation of Charles Rennie Mackintosh schemes.

Elisabeth was recently commissioned to work on the recreation of The Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow. Her deep interest in eco dyeing, eco printing and indigo shibory has developed over the past 10 years through work, research and frequent travels to the Far East .

She exhibits her work with local galleries and lectures on heritage recreation. In her approach Elisabeth aims to give her students a deep understanding of the creative process and how it can be both simplified and localised.

She is deeply passionate about carbon foot print and recycling and her approach can be likened to that of ‘cooking a meal from scratch’. During her workshops you will learn a strong technique which you will be able to apply in your own creative work, but you will also create a beautiful and unique object to take home leaving you a lasting impression of your weekend in Gartmore.

Elisabeth’s workshops are for beginners as well as for the more advance participants, she will guide your creativity no matter what your level is.

Elisabeth lives in the West End of Glasgow with her husband, where she runs her creative studio The Lansdowne House of Stencils.
