FAQs

• Are the bedrooms en-suite?

We have 23 en-suite bedrooms, comprising a mix of single, twin, double and family rooms, located on the first and second floor of the house. There are also three further bedrooms which share a bathroom. All guests are allocated an en-suite room unless you request otherwise.

• Do you have accessible bedrooms?

We have one dedicated accessible bedroom. This bedroom benefits from an en-suite bathroom with assistance rails, grab bars and a ‘roll-in’ shower. Additionally, we have a number of other bedrooms that have a shower cubicle which may fit your needs. All other bedrooms feature a bath with an overhead shower. All floors of the house are accessible by lift.

• What facilities are there in the bedrooms?

All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, bath towels and complimentary travel toiletries. Whilst there are no TVs in the bedrooms there is a TV in the Oak Room.

• Do all the bedrooms have a good view?

The more spacious, Hobby Haven bedrooms have panoramic views looking across Flander’s Moss towards Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. All other bedrooms have a side or rear view of our grounds.

• What time is check in/check out?

Check-in is from 4pm, and check-out is 10am.
There will always be somebody on duty to check you in, whether it is the receptionist or the night porter. If you are going to be very late, we would appreciate you letting us know in advance where possible.

• Is there WiFi?

Complimentary fibre internet is available for all guests and is accessible in our public areas on the ground floor and library on the lower ground floor. There is no WiFi access in the bedrooms.

• How do I find Gartmore House?

• Do you have car parking facilities?

Free on-site parking is available for all guests throughout the duration of your stay. All cars are parked at owners’ risk.

FAQs about Food and Drink at Gartmore House

• Do you have a restaurant and bar? What are the opening hours?

We do have a restaurant and a well-stocked bar. 
Breakfast is served between 8am and 9.30am. 
Dinner is served between pen between 6pm-8pm.
The bar is open from 6pm nightly. 

• Can you cater for dietary requirements?

We are able to cater for a wide range of dietaries and allergens. Please notify us of any requirements at the time of booking.

FAQs about Art, Craft & Activity Breaks

• What time is pick up and drop off from Stirling station, for the art, craft & activity breaks?

We offer a complimentary pick up from the station at 3:30pm on the day of arrival, and the drop-off service departs from the house at 10am (5+night breaks) or 4pm (2-night breaks) on the day of departure.

• What do I need to bring on my art, craft and activity break?

Your required kit list for your specific break is shown on each course’s webpage. However, should you have any queries, then please feel free to contact us.

• Where can I find out more about the course?

If you need any further information about your course that is not on our website, please get in contact with us and we can provide you with the tutor’s contact details who can assist with your query.

• What is the art, craft and activity break booking terms and conditions?

To secure your booking, a non-refundable £100 per person deposit is required. Full payment is due 6 weeks prior to arrival. For breaks booked within 6 weeks of your arrival date, full payment is taken at time of booking. Breaks are subject to availability and subject to change. There is a minimum number of guests required to run each course. If a course is cancelled due to low numbers, bookings may be moved to an alternative date or a full refund will be issued. If you cancel, your £100 deposit is non-refundable. The rest of your payment will be refunded if you cancel no later than 6 weeks prior to arrival.

• Can I bring a partner/friend to stay with me while I am on an art, craft or activity break?

Yes. Non-participating guests are most welcome to stay at Gartmore House on a shared occupancy, full board basis. Non-participating guests are charged at a rate of £60 per night.

• Can I stay at Gartmore House on a bed and breakfast basis?

Yes, we welcome solo travellers, couples and friends to stay at Gartmore House on a B&B basis. Bookings can be made direct or via Booking.com (hyperlink this?). Full payment is taken at the time of a B&B booking. Direct bookings have a 72-hour cancellation policy. If you book through booking.com, it is a non-refundable advanced purchase booking.

• What should I do if I have lost or left something in my room?

Send us an email or call if you think you have left something in your room, and we will do our best to find it and return it to you. However, we ask you to please reimburse us for the postage fee.

• Can I bring my dog?

We are a dog friendly house. Dogs are not permitted in the public or dining areas and must be kept in your bedroom. Whilst in the ground of Gartmore Estate, all dogs must be kept on a lead. We charge a £10 fee per dog per night. This fee does not apply to guide dogs or assistance dogs.

• Where is the nearest shop?

Gartmore village has a small community owned shop that is a 10-minute walk away. For a bigger supermarket, there is a Co-operative in the village of Aberfoyle, situated two miles from Gartmore House.

• I am under 18 years old; can I stay at Gartmore House without a parent/guardian?

No, if you are under the age of 18 you will require a parent or guardian to accompany you.
