The road accessing the estate is unsuitable for vehicles (signed ‘no vehicle access to Gartmore Estate’). Please follow the directions below to access the house from the A81 through the private drive. By road from the south (Glasgow) Take the A81 from the city centre; travel via Milngavie and Strathblane towards Aberfoyle. Continue past the signs for Gartmore village and Gartmore House is well sign-posted on the left off the A81. By road from the north (Perth) or East (Edinburgh) Travel towards Stirling on the M9 and leave the motorway at Junction 10. Follow the A84, signposted for Callander. After 4 miles take the A873 for Aberfoyle. After 17 miles, at the roundabout, take the first exit and stay on the A81. In less than a mile, the village of Gartmore is signposted on your right. Continue past the village entrance and Gartmore House is clearly sign-posted on your right along a private driveway. By air The closest airports to Gartmore are Glasgow and Edinburgh, both approximately one hour’s drive away. See Edinburgh or Glasgow airport website for timetables, bookings and fares. By rail Stirling train station (Stirling is our closest city) is 18 miles from Gartmore House and has links to train stations in Glasgow (25-35 mins by train) or Edinburgh (40 mins by train). Milngavie train station is 16 miles from Gartmore House and has links to Glasgow (15 mins by train). There are also direct rail links from London Kings Cross to Stirling and links to and from all major train stations. Transfers: Why not take the stress out of travelling and book a transfer straight to our door? Please note: We require a minimum of 1 week to arrange transfers to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport and Stirling train station. To/From Stirling Train Station: All our art, craft and activity holidays include a complimentary transfer to and from Stirling train station. The transfer will collect you from the station at 15:30 on the day of arrival (this applies to 2, 5 and 6-night holidays). On the day of departure, your transfer will collect you from Gartmore House at 10:00 (5 and 6-night holidays) or 16:00 (2-night holidays), returning to Stirling train station. Please allow 45 minutes for your transfer between Gartmore House and Stirling train station. To/From Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport The closest airports to us are Glasgow and Edinburgh airports. If you require a transfer to and/or from either airport, please select this option at the time of booking. Transfers to/from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are available at an additional cost. – After booking your flights, please update your Customer Portal with the time you wish to be collected from the airport on the day of arrival and the time of collection at Gartmore House, returning to the airport, on the day of departure. Please allow 60 minutes for your transfer between Gartmore House and Glasgow Airport, or 90 minutes for your transfer between Gartmore House and Edinburgh Airport.
