Out and About Around Gartmore

Here at Gartmore House, we’re lucky enough to call the beautiful Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park our home. The house sits on a private 100-acre estate that all our guests are welcome to explore while they stay with us. There are plenty of trails and walks but if you crave a little bit more adventure then the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is a stone’s throw away in nearby Aberfoyle where you’ll find graded trails perfect for hiking and cycling.

We’re surrounded on all sides by mountains, moorland, forests, rivers and lochs. You’ll be hard pressed to find better views! However, we’re not the only ones who call this peaceful corner of the world home. Keep your eyes peeled and you might just be able to spot some of the local wildlife scampering through the trees and underbrush. Red squirrels, ospreys, buzzards, peregrines, deer, and badgers can be counted amongst our neighbours. Of course, even if you don’t spot them, you’re sure to see Hamish and Eric, our cats, padding about looking for treats and ear scratches!

When you’re not busy crafting and creating, there’s loads to see and do. If you fancy taking a trip out then why not visit some of our favourite cafes or take a walk over to the picturesque village of Gartmore and have a dram at the community-owned Black Bull Pub. Plus, discover the likes of Stirling Castle, Glengoyne Distillery, cruises on Loch Lomond and Loch Katrine and more!
