Patchwork and Quilting Holidays

Our Patchwork and Quilting holidays will appeal to both the seasoned and novice quilter. From our studio at Gartmore House, with its panoramic views, you can enjoy the comforts of this beautiful house while receiving expert tuition and guidance from your tutor, Clare Workman.

There is a choice of a varied selection of taught techniques and projects (beginners sampler quilt, sampler blocks, various Bargello techniques), or bring your own works-in-progress or unfinished objects, for a busy yet relaxed creative holiday.

During your stay you will work on your project at morning and afternoon sessions. By the end of your holiday you will have completed your chosen small/medium project or be well on your way to a larger quilt.

Sampler Quilts, Beautiful Bargello & NEW Seminole
Sampler quilts are a great project for beginners and all patchworkers alike, with a very flexible range of designs. You could make a small quilt or use the sampler blocks to make a bed or table runner or panels for a bag or cushions. Beautiful Bargello is another lovely technique to learn or explore for all levels.

NEW for 2019/20 – Seminole – developed by the Seminole Indians in Florida – a flexible strip piecing technique.

‘This course is always so enjoyable and instructive. The tutor is excellent and allows us to work on our own projects at our own pace whilst giving great advice, support and teaching. The atmosphere at Gartmore House is just amazing – making it feel like a home rather than a ‘centre’. The staff – every one of them is so friendly and interested in what is being created and how we are progressing, which is great. Thank you for another great weekend and we will be back!’ Hilary & Roseanne, Patchwork & Quilting Course, January 2019

‘Fantastic week. Everything coming together perfectly. Ideal balance of activity, free time, trip away.
